half day trip - is slowly heading in the direction of Athens - but not yet we wanted to see the cradle of the Olympic Games: Olimpia.
Before we entered the excavation site, pokręciliśmy a little after the town (a little OT: marking the road to Olympia fatal. I mean everything is ok, until I pass the mark of the village - and this one came to the conclusion that characters are no longer needed. Effect: of course we turned in this way is not what you need). We did a little grocery shopping - including bread. Why do I mention the bread? Because we got to the REAL bakeries: one in which we could see the back like a blast furnace is taken out loaves of a wooden shovel, and sells bread, white guy with his hands from flour. Of course freshest bread, still warm.
excavation area - traditionally the columns, the ruins - but the most impressive stadium. Original Olympic stadium, where thousands of years ago athletes were fighting with each other and their failings. We arranged a family after it runs:).
these columns earthquake destroyed
entry Stadium
the place ... (Jasiek got a head start:)
there was little drama, because I really wanted to win Wiktorek and could not get over that Daddy was the first;)
From Olympia, we went to Bass - I read in the guide that is góach Temple of Apollo - one of the best preserved in Greece. Riding on the place was embellished with magnificent views. At some point, noted that the road passed under the trees are strange - so dark and dry. A few moments later I realized that we are watching the effects of fires, the guys which digested the Peloponnese a few years ago. Grass, small bushes - have managed to grow and covered the all the greenery - but for them, for many, many miles, as the eye could see to the horizon we could see burnt stumps of trees.
unfortunately cell is more suitable to talk;) and the stumps of trees stretching to the horizon gone bad
The temple itself - really good preserved - but it can not be viewed in all its glory, because it is a huge enclosed tent. There is no case of money for its reconstruction and security - so if it protects a huge tent.
we pulled into town Andritsainy: picturesque, at this time of year, almost completely empty. The grocery store did a little shopping - of course, aroused the curiosity of the owner: the password from the place reminded Poland: aaaa, Wales! At the end of shopping guys got to him candy, and we will try some Greek specialty: it was a kind of jelly, richly-winning sugar - rose-flavored icing. It was not bad - but I ate better in my life sweet;)
After a short walk we went in the direction of Megalopolis - when we decided to look for accommodation. The next day we had to meet with a familiar friend in whom initially had to spend the night.
The area through which we drove was not as picturesque as przyzwyczaliliśmy in the last days. Numerous orchards have disappeared somewhere in the orange and olive groves. We passed a lot of bare trees, reminding us that this is one is winter. The areas that we passed looked ugly and vaguely. The city itself - that was also Megalopolis: dirty, neglected, passed shops evoked associations with the PRL. The only thing that wybijało a plus - it's cake. And not just in Megalopolis - a phenomenon seen in other places: in the most godforsaken hole, if it was open cake - it was the prettiest, most colorful and well-kept shop in the area.
found the hotel was quite cheap - but the time it stopped in the 60s, when it opened. Toilets and showers were in the hallway - do not look at i. .. we decided that that day is not going to bathe.
